New, Shiny, Different

Wired magazine was absolutely correct when they referred to the new Blackberry Pearl as a Crackberry. It is truly a thing of beauty. I’ve just had a play on a colleagues new one and it is gorgeous. Looks like a phone, acts like a blackberry and has a camera. I covet it!

Sunny Side Up

A word on Christmas – it really was a most relaxing and delightful time. It was a time in which I gave no thought to the place which pays me and occupies at least 37.5 hours of my time per week. I received a couple of useful and thoughtful gifts, and gave a few in return. I cooked Christmas dinner and although I wasn’t entirely happy with the potatoes, the rest was fine. I drank too much on several occasions and vowed to become a more sober adult in future (again). I lay in bed late in the mronings, smooshed up next to the warm body beside me. I rode my bike in wind, rain and sunshine. I spent New Years Eve with two people I love, sang, danced and laughed my way to 12 o’clock.

Who could ask for more from a Christmas break?

Slowly Slowly

What to do when the minute you crawl out of bed, you just want to crawl back into it? My method is to apply some make up, dress nicely and get on with it.

Although I slept for a good portion of yesterday and last night, the world seems overly bright today and I appear to be moving through it in somewhat of a daze. Efforts to jolly myself into some semblance of normality en route to work have failed. However having taken the time to get a sandwich and coffee I feel things can only get better.

Let’s just hope that the rest of the office is easing into the new year as slowly as I am.

oooof

Christmas this year was for the most part of a lovely time, however New Year has brought me down to earth with a bump. Sometimes life just kicks you in the arse just to remind you not to relax.

Tube fares are rising and rain is forecast tomorrow. It’s a bit of a tricky one in regard to cycling to work. I’d desperately like to withold my custom from London Underground and I’m quite ok with the ride, but if it’s raining it can really be the most miserable ride on earth. A combo of wind and rain can really make you feel like you may never reach your destination. However sometimes even the most miserable of rides can be immeasurably better than a bad journey on the central line.

Blind in Charge of a Motorised Vehicle

Waiting at some lights on our bikes today me and the boyf are joined by a quite old man sitting on a motorised mobility scooter. He’s actually on the road with us. His reedy voice calls out “I’m going to Warren Street”. The boyf replies “ah, good”. “how do i get there?” the old man says. “go right to the end of this street” I say, noting his thick glasses and white cane. He then says “can you tell me when the light goes green”, just as the lights change. We take off round the corner and I, having just clocked on to the fact that the old man cannot see the lights, tell him “go now!”.
