New year, new job, new challenges
My Fave photo of the season
The smallest shop ever
Unhappy Holidays
Boyf and I wandered over to Islington to catch I am legend today. It was a bit scary for me, however not half as scary as the scene which greeted us when we emerged onto Upper Street. A large chunk of road from Angel to past the green was closed off and swarming with police. A small tent had been erected on the pavement opposite us. The street showed no sign of a traffic accident having taken place. It was hard to take in the scene and not guess that some sort of street attack had taken place. As we walked on, the sounds of a helicopter filled the air, rounding the bend we saw an air ambulance take off from the Design centre carpark.
Having now arrived home we hear from the radio that Benazir Bhutto was murdered today and two youths were stabbed on Upper street at 2.30pm. One of them is dead.
And so this is Christmas
Derrrinkkk
Boyf: Are you sure we have enough wine for Christmas?
Me: well, we have one Rose, 3 white, 1 sparkling rose and two bottles of Champagne … annnd there’s only two of us….
The life of animals
Being off work so close to Christmas is truly strange. I have had a
rare and unwanted chance to study the species teenager, aka
disaffected youth. The bus appears to be their main habitat and it is
filled with sound being spewed from tinny mobile speakers. Most of the
teens are using their outdoor voices, the default setting of the
species.
They sit one to two seats twisting backward to talk to their
friends sat behind them. In this way ordinary folk are forced to sit
beside them. My ipod dulls their din but nothing can drown it out
entirely.
Costa
Dear costa, while your coffee is fab, omfg (to borrow a phrase from
the kids), this time of year is hell on earth in your shop. Kids!
Proper small and proper noisy. Am you a creche?
Housewifeliness
Wow – you really know you’ve been spending too much time round the house when the most exciting thing thats happened all day is the discovery that there’s a new recycling bin outside. It’s great though, we can now recycle plastic, paper, cardboard, glass and tins…
Also is it bad that I have a bottle of wine open at this time of day? In my defence it was a screw top – I had no choice but to crack that baby open..
